Tamil Congregation, Church of Philadelphia

The Tamil congregation of the Church of Philadelphia was birthed in 1989 under the spiritual stewardship of Brother Prabhu Samson, who has since been called to eternal rest with the Lord. What began as a humble gathering in his home has blossomed into a vibrant congregation, thanks to God’s abundant grace and the tireless efforts of many young men who reached out to homes, labour camps, and hospitals. Many have been led to the saving grace of the Lord and have received baptism. Despite the relocation of several members for various reasons, the Lord’s hand has continued to guide and grow the group. Today, the congregation is a spiritual home to nearly 90 members, many of whom are families, and includes Tamil-speaking members from both India and Sri Lanka.

Pastor Antony Peo, along with Pastor CSN. Prem Kumar, and Pastor Samuel Jacob, shepherded the congregation for many years. Their relentless service and tireless labour in the Tamil Congregation are a testament to their faith. Pastors Antony Peo and CSN. Prem Kumar retired and returned to India, while Pastor Samuel Jacob retired and moved to Australia.

In 2023, Pastor Regis was anointed to take the leadership of the Tamil Congregation. He continues the legacy of love and fellowship, assisted by Elder Sekar Sam and Deacon Austin Steven. Pastor Regis, called to a teaching ministry, is steadfastly committed to Discipleship training. He has embraced the divine mandate of discipling through teaching of God’s Word and serves as part of the Teaching faculty of Church of Philadelphia.

In a world where the body of Christ is often exposed to unhealthy teachings, Pastor Regis, empowered by the Holy Spirit, continues to teach the undiluted Word of God, specifically focusing on the Sound Doctrine. The journey of the Church of Philadelphia Tamil congregation is a living testament to God’s boundless love and divine guidance. Their story continues to unfold, guided by the hand of God, as they walk in faith and obedience.

The main worship service is held on Friday evenings, where the undiluted Word of God is preached. An anointed worship team helps usher in His glorious presence. A warm welcome is extended to anyone who speaks Tamil to visit and experience the love of our Lord Jesus.
